new love

I have found a new favorite yarn it is amazing, soft, easy to knit with and is machine wash and dryable I have been knitting baby sweaters with it and they are so cute. It is Lion Brand Vanna's choice. Lots of colors to choose from check it out. I think you will love it too. I am almost finished one of my sweaters I will post a picture soon.

Yarn stash

Okay this is another post that maybe only Laura will appreciate and I wish I had taken before and after photos I have a major problem with my yarn stash I have a dresser downstairs I have bags in my bedroom and I always seemed to have piles and baskets and bins full surrounding my favorite knitting chair in the living room. Then I bought this wonderful wicker shelf from Canadian Tire ok so it was not so much fun to put together my friend Janet nearly killed me as I called her for help (and by help I mean I got her to do it all lol) it comes in about 3 million pieces even the basket style drawers had to be assembled but I feel it was well worth all the sweat and swears lol. It ahs solved the problem of the living room stash I can now have piles of yarn right at my side and it looks so pretty.

So happy

So the other day my oldest nephew (12) asked me to make him a toque I agreed but was nervous as he is fairly fussy so he picked out some colors and told me how he wanted his stripes to be. I then went to one of my favorite knitting sites Ravelry and started to look for a hat pattern I thought he may like. I came across a pattern by
stephanieknits.blogspot.com it is called a hat fit for a boyfriend. So I knit this toque a bit taller than the patter suggested and called my nephew to come try it on, I waited as he tried it on and checked it our a few different ways and in a couple different mirrors and heard him mutter as he came down the stairs "this is the sweetest hat ever" oh my was I happy he has been wearing it almost non stop and wants a couple more in different colors lol. I am just so happy. I am also making one for my daughter I will post pics of her wearing it.

I'm back....seriously lol

Okay I am back I know I have said this before but I am serious this time lol. I have been off work for a few days with a bad back so I have been spending alot of time on my couch taking it easy....thank goodness I can knit laying down. I have been busy getting caught up on projects that have been put on hold. Hoping to get some sweaters and vests knit up for the christmas craft fair. That's all for now my back is sore and I have to go to the grocery store :(

slacker

wow I have been totally slacking with my blogging but I am so behind in everything these days, I have about 7 knitting projects on the go and not just ones for fun but ones that have to get done ugh add on to that work, child and everything else and it doesn't leave much room for anything. Plus I have about a million things running through my brain right now so sleep hasn't been on the agenda much either hmmmmm perhaps I should make my evening snack tequila shooters and that would probably help me pass out sleep lol.

My wise friend

So I am dedicating this blog to my blog wise friend Laura aka Org Junkie. Thank you thank you thank you Laura I truly appreciate your help and hope that one day I rock at blogging like you.

Mounty toque

One of the ladies that I work with her daughter's husband is a member with the RCMP and she is expecting a baby and wanted a hat in the colors of the red surge so we tossed around a few ideas and this is what I came up with.....I think I have found the perfect colors to match so we have the brown for the boots and hat, blue for the pants and red for the jacket....so cute.

hopes and wishes

So I read the newest Debbie Macomber blossom street book...it's called 20 wishes I love all of the books in this series and I don't want to go into the story incase you haven't read it but in the book the ladies decide to make a list with 20 wishes no matter how silly they seem they put down things they wish to do, I have decided to make a list for myself and my daughter is jumping on the wagon as well and wants to do a list too. I recently went to Victoria BC for a conference and visited a lovely little yarn shop and once again I was hit with the feeling of jealousy for that shop owner, I feel the same way when I go to my favorite yarn shop in Smithers BC so the first item on my wish list is to one day own a yarn shop of my own. I can't even begin to explain the feeling I get when I am standing in a store surrounded by fibres of all types and colors and the books and baskets and needles and all the other items that go hand and hand with knitting and spinning but I think it may be how a child feels as they walk through the gates in Disneyland. Sheer joy lol.

1st ever baby sweater

So I decided to brave another sweater the first sweater I ever made was the red sweater from H*&L lol it was for my daughter when she was about 6 or 7 we had no pattern I just found this yarn and had to make a sweater so my friend oh ya no problem and jotted down a bunch of stitches etc on a scrap piece of paper I seriously thought she was nuts....well after starting...ripping out....re starting.....ripping out etc and much much swearing I finally got the sweater done my daughter loved it of course it took me so long to make it she could only wear it for a short time but we still have it. I started a baby sweater (with a pattern) and am happy to announce that last night while at the pool watching my daughter swim I finished the front yay so now I have a front and a back woo hoo. Must finish my sock orders before I start the sleeves though or I may never get them down....well maybe I will just make 1 sleeve....lol
Must go finish getting ready for work......ttyl.....hopw you have agreat day

A new day...a new blog

So I have decided that since most of my awake time is spent either working or knitting I would start an all new blog and this one is going to be all about my love for fibres all kinds and all colors. I love to spin on my beloved Ashford Joy double treddle it makes me happy :) I also love to knit, I am not the fastest knitter and in the knitting world I am still somewhat of a beginner I have been knitting for about 6 years now and spinning for 5. When I first started knitting I wanted desperatly to learn how to make socks so I went to a local fibre arts meeting here in my home town and I walked in and saw a great deal of very talented ladies doing something rather neat looking with this wheely looking thing which I very quickly learned was a spinning wheel....well socks smocks I just HAD to learn how to spin...so one of the ladies let me borrow one of her first wheels and got me some extra fibres and started teaching me and let me tell you I am now hooked I love love love spinning the soothing whir of the wheel going around and around it is like meditating to me...all thoughts are gone from my head other than the feel of the fibres gliding through my fingers. Oh and a year later I did finally learn to knit socks lol, they continue to be my favorite thing to knit and just last month went in a local craft fair with my baby/toddler socks they are so cute. I will post some pics of them as soon as I figure out how :) Well I think thats all for now I am super excited to be blogging again......ttyl
